OTH

Question:

Hey Jim first thank you for an awesome website. I have been out of the USMC for close to 28 years. I have always been ashamed of my service because I made a mistake 3 years, 10 months, and 14 days into a 4-year run. I got an OTH. I did try to get it changed a few year after. The review board just said your doing good keep it up. Now it's 28 years later. My question is what do I really need to have to get my Discharge to honorable?

Jim's Reply:

We all made mistakes. My weekend pass ran a bit over once (I didn't know you could do that on 3.2 beer) and cost me an Article 15 for "lost time". But that was minor enough that some KP time was all it took and I was able to move on.

Discharge upgrades are tough to DIY and like you, most vets don't have much luck going it alone.  I like the NVLSP for the way they manage upgrades.

Good luck.
