DIC eligibility
Question:
Jim, my husband has a 80% disability rating but is receiving 100% rate due to unemployability. He has been receiving this rating for the last 21 years. His rating is for ptsd and scars. He also had a triple bypass about 7 years ago and now has congestive heart failure. His heart is only working at about 20% now. My only job in the last 20 years was to take care of him and would like to know if I will be eligible for DIC payments when the time comes. He is a vietnam vet. Thank you for doing what you do!
Jim's Reply:
Yes. The veteran who passes while holding a 100% P & T rating (his rating is 100% P & T with the TDIU benefit) for over 10 years will leave dependents eligible to apply for DIC.
