Not sure if I am receiving TDIU benefits

Question:

How do I find out if I'm TDIU?

Jim's Reply:

Great question! For some reason VA hasn't ever used plain English to tell us about benefits. The award letter that should answer our questions usually leaves us confused. The intent almost seems to be to make the message as cloudy as possible.

If your rating is Permanent and Total (P & T) the letter won't say that, rather it will tell you that dependents are eligible to apply for CHAMPVA or sometimes Chapter 35 DEA. In the case of the TDIU benefit, your letter may reference an underlying rating of (x%) and a rating you're paid at of 100%. Otherwise, unless you know exactly what you applied fo, it can be confusing to sort it all out.

When in doubt,a CVSO can often look over your award letters and documents and let you know exactly where you stand.
