SSDI Denied for 2002 injury

Question:

I have applied to Social Security multiple times, even hiring a lawyer. I have always been denied. When I first applied it was 2007, I was rated at 60%. I was discharged in 2004. I am now rated 100% since 2015 and when I apply, Social Security says I  don't have enough work credits in the last 5 years. I try to explain that this injury occurred in 2002 and they don't want to hear it. Always get a denial within 15 days. Is there anything I can do?

Jim's Reply:

The SSDI benefit uses very different criteria than the VA. Many veterans will run into these same barriers and other than asking your attorney to file and refile, there isn't much to be done.
