Please explain BVA appeal message
Question:
Jim: BVA appeal for Prostrate cancer on VA.gov was just updated today with a curious message as follows:
“Current Status: The Board made a decision on your appeal .The Board of Veterans’ Appeals sent you a decision on your appeal. Here’s an overview: Please see your decision for more details. What happens next? The Veterans Benefits Administration completes the remand instructions. They may contact you to request more evidence or medical exams as needed. When they’ve completed the remand instructions, they’ll determine whether or not they can grant your appeal. If not, your appeal will return to the Board of Veterans’ Appeals for a new decision. 16–29 months. The Veterans Benefits Administration usually takes between 16 and 29 months to complete remand instructions.”
Could you explain what this means ? This is under Agent Orange Blue water Navy. Thank you Jim
Jim's Reply:
You have an appeal at the BVA and the BVA has remanded (sent it) it back to a VA regional office for more work. You'll be contacted of more evidence or exams are needed. After that work is done, they're either award you a benefit at the regional office or your appeal returns to BVA for further adjudication. All this is anticipated to take 16 to 29 months. Good luck.
