Vietnam Veteran Discrepancies

Question:

Why does the VA treat in-country vets different than Viet Nam era vets?

Jim's Reply:

The Vietnam era veteran who served in the country of The Republic of Vietnam is presumed to have been in a combat zone as well as exposed to agent orange. Those of us who served elsewhere (I was in Germany) weren't exposed to either combat or agent orange. The mental, physical and chemical hazards that the Vietnam veteran suffered is documented and a reality. I think that speaks for itself. I would have served in Vietnam were I ordered to do so, I'm just as happy that I didn't have to. Those who spent their time their earned the extra attention.
