Son's father is disabled vet
Question:
My sons father is a 100% disabled vet. Paternity has been established. He does not want to give out his VA income to the courts. Is there a worksheet I have to fill out to recieve child support from his VA income? Will the courts inform the VA office about the court ordered child support. Neither one of us has a lawyer.
Jim's Reply:
When we divorce we are usually instructed to accurately complete a detailed financial statement. We must attest that the statement is true and correct or there may be penalties. A veteran who receives disability pay, retirement pay and so on must include those amounts for the court to use. This isn't his choice to make, he must report all income or he may suffer consequences. Until you have a court order (the divorce decree and stipulations) the VA won't allow you any access to any information.
