Prostate cancer diagnosis in May
Question:
Good Morning Jim, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer via a biopsy in May 2019. I was boots on the ground in Vietnam during 69-70. I applied for disability on June 14, 2019. I have since had a MRI and Bone scan at the Philadelphia VA medical and have an appointment with them to discuss treatment options. I have not gotten approved by the VA yet even though I am on 20% disability for AO related Diabetes. I just got a call today that they want to do a C&P exam next week. I am confused and don't get it. Is this normal? Thanks.
Jim's Reply:
Yes, perfectly routine...such as any VA routine may be. The infamous C & P exam is required even though it isn't required. To demand a C & P exam for each and every small step is de rigueur at VA and there's just no avoiding it. As absurd as it may be, you must go to the exam and any other exam they order or you'll default to a denial of benefits.
