Definitions of Vietnam Vet

Question:

Jim, I believe it’s disgraceful that our brothers and sisters whose very mission in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos was in direct support of South Vietnam during the war are not considered to be Vietnam Vets. There’s a distinct difference between these veterans and those who were stationed stateside or in Europe. Plus boots on the ground is nonsense because I was tdy in Vietnam and the were military bases there that was nothing short of vacationing in paradise. There assignments in Thailand that were totally Vietnam mission related. Never in our history has a group been so disrespected by its very own. This division came about because the government didn’t want to pay agent orange outside of Vietnam. You don’t allow a veteran’s war time service in a theater to be diminished because the government attempted not to pay for illnesses caused by agent orange. President Johnson declared these men who were stationed in participating countries t o be Vietnam War Veterans and that nobody can take away. What say you Jim?

Jim's Reply:

I'd say you're in the wrong place for a political discussion. I'm here to help veterans live their lives by getting the benefits they earned. Your politics belong somewhere else.
