Court order for alimony
Question:
I have a court order for alimony, but I don't know how or where to file my court order for my husband's VA disability benefits to be garnished.
Jim's Reply:
VA disability benefits can't be garnished by court order. If a veteran who receives disability benefits is in arrears of a child support or alimony order, the obligee (usually the ex-spouse) may file an apportionment request with the VA and ask that some of the veterans benefits be apportioned to the obligee to satisfy the court order.
