Divorce help
Question:
Need legal help with my divorce.
Jim's Mailbag:
If you need legal help with a divorce you'll need to hire a divorce lawyer and pay for that yourself. Divorce is a uniquely civilian problem and our status as veterans carries no weight at all in divorce court. There are few if any free legal clinics that will help anyone divorcing because divorce is such a brutal process and lawyers who are involved deserve to be paid...a lot. Uncontested divorces can often be had if you'll head to the court and speak to a clerk of court. They can often provide paperwork and instructions to help you file your divorce yourself for only the court costs involved.
- PS from StatesideLegal: You may use the "Find Legal Help" directory to look for a LRS provider in your community and ask for a low-cost consultation with a lawyer who handles divorce in the community/state where the divorce will take place.
