Hepatis C, Kidney Transplant
Question:
I’m compensated 40% for Hepatitis C. I have taken the “cure” and didn’t contact the VA. I now am on dialysis which is NOT service connected BUT I can’t have a kidney transplant because of my SERVICE Connected Fibrosis of the liver which is a result of the Hepatitis C. I want to put in for a compensation claim for (1) Fibrosis of the liver service-connected and (2).Dialysis secondary to fibrosis of the liver. Your thoughts? Thank you.
Jim's Reply:
I can't predict whether you'd prevail in such a claim...there are just too many variables. However, I can tell you that the only claim I can promise you won't win is the claim you don't file. You seem to have a good understanding of your rated condition and your physical health conditions so if you feel you deserve a new rating or a modification of an existing rating, go for it.
