The Process of Benefits Review
Jim,
I was awarded 60% on Dec 08. Filed for Parkinsons on Jan 09. Received notice that PD was acknowledged and on hold. I understood. After a year with no word from VA, my VSO called RO. They stated paper work in order for PD but waiting for doctor reports for Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). I informed them that neither do I have nor did I filed for IHD. Just process PD claim. It's been 15 months now, no word and not even a C & P scheduled. Question 1, What would you suggest I do or just wait some more. Question 2. 'Do you have any knowledge as to whether the VA has started processing PD claims yet? THANKS Jim for all you do.

Your claim is very likely in a Nehmer class review. Those are taking longer than VA is happy with and there is an effort to get the done ASAP. You don't have much choice with the IHD claim. If there is anything at all in your record about IHD the claim is "inferred" and VA must look into it. Your claim is complex and will take longer than others. I advise that you write to VA using certified mail and ask what can be done to complete your claim. After 4 months of letters to VA (one each month) you should take your evidence of letters to your Congressional Representative and seek their help by a Congressional inquiry.
