I've never read or heard what the outcome was from the scandal of the VA employee who "innocently" took home 26 million files of veterans on discs.

Was anything ever done about that? Anywhere I could research this?

This event occurred when a VA employee carried a laptop computer home with him to do some work on it. His apartment was broken into and the laptop was stolen. Subsequent to that there was a series of legal actions that resulted in VA being required to provide funds to protect veterans who may have suffered any damages by the exposure of their personal data.
