Question:
If I am receiving VA disability compensation, does this mean that I can not receive VSI payment promised to me from 1992, even though I never did any active duty reserve?. My VSI payments stopped right after I started to receive VA disability compensation.
Jim's Reply:
VSI is one of the more complex of a series of complex benefits that arose from the need to reduce the size of the force in that era. The rules are hard to follow but to begin with I read, "If you took a Voluntary Separation Incentive (VSI) you must remain in a Reserve Component for the entire time you are receiving VSI payments", and you say you did no reserve duty. That may highlight a problem right there.
In any case I suggest you give this introduction to the Voluntary Separation Incentive as published by DFAS and direct your questions in their direction. https://www.dfas.mil/retiredmilitary/plan/separation-payments/voluntary-separation-incentive/
