Question:
I have custody of three children going on two years now .their father receives VA benefits for them and has been keeping them for the past two years to himself while he and his wife were split up in the children were still in my custody. How do I file a claim to get those benefits sent to the children?
Jim's Reply:
The only entity that can assign support benefits for children is the family court. VA doesn't send benefits to children of a veteran but the family court can order the vet to pay child support. Your answers are at the family court but you have to get the process started.
