TDIU benefit

Jim,

I enlisted in the Marines, 1966 to 1970. I spent 1968 to 1970 in Viet Nam. I am currenty rated by the VA as follows: PTSD 70%, Hearing 50%, Tinnitis 10%, for a total of 130% but of course they figure it at 90%. I no longer can work due to the PTSD and the Hearing, and I just applied for unemployability. I have worked for the last six years but I just could not proform the job any longer. The Reno office called and wanted the address to my last employer, and my wife gave it to them. I or I should say we were wondering what this proccess consists of? Thank You for any info that you can give us.

Your question is the number one inquiry at my desk every day. The TDIU benefit is as confusing as can be. I receive the benefit myself and it took me forever to really get all the details about it.

I've done a page on my web site devoted to TDIU. Click here https://www.vawatchdog.org/tdiu-unemployability.html

I'm in the process of updating and revising some of the topics and this page is up for an overhaul. You may want to read what you find there and then return to see if there are any significant changes. It's a lot of information but all of it is really important for you to understand. Veterans (and their loving spouses) who put some time into learning details of their VA benefits are always better off than those who don't.

I'll suggest that you also read http://www.vawatchdogtoday.org/Your_Q___A.html so that you can learn a bit about the process and then move on to http://www.vawatchdogtoday.org/How_To_File_A_Claim.html for the info about the 5 tips I recommend to win your claim.

After all that, the rest of the site will offer you more details on things like benefits for the dependents (CHAMPVA health insurance, Education, etc.) and a lot more. I'll be around for any questions you may have.
