Question:
I was medically retired from the US Navy on the permanent disability retirement list (PDRL). Does this qualify me for student loan forgiveness?

No. Unfortunately, there are only 3 ways to obtain a student loan discharge via a disability rating. You can learn more about that at the Federal Student Aid website.
If your medical retirement ultimately translated to a 100% P & T rating from the VA or if you have been awarded SSDI, your loans should be discharged without much fuss. Otherwise you'll have some hoops to jump through as described at the link above.
