Question:
I was on a ship that is on the VA presumptive list. Was diagnosed with prostate cancer and have submitted paperwork to prove I was onboard during the presumptive period and documents from my doctors to prove the cancer. My original e-benefits completion date was February r6 and now it has changed to June 29. Seven months seems a little long for a slam dunk case.
Jim's Reply:
Yes, it certainly does seem like a long time. But you're dealing with VA and there is no such thing as a slam dunk case. I wish I had an explanation for why it takes so long for an obvious award to happen but the only explanation is that the VA is that inefficient. As hard as that may be to believe, it's a fact. There's not a thing you can do to hurry it along other than what you've done already...be patient, they'll get around to it.
