Question:
I am in the National Guard and have on opportunity to go active for a about a year which is considered a Permanent Change of Station. I know by FL law my job will be held for me for 5 years. Will the same apply to my wife if she chooses to come with me?
Jim's Reply:
I'd advise you to speak with a JAG representative before you make a move and rely on the law you believe you know. I get messages from many vets who relied on various statutes to protect them from the vagaries of employment disputes and repossession of property while deployed and so on and most will find themselves lost in the legal system. That you may be right doesn't mean you'll be happy with the outcomes. You really need to run all this by a qualified attorney before you make a decision that will have a big impact on your life.
