Question:
Hello. I recently received notification that BVA granted appeal for migraines. Ebenefits has updated SC and it shows rating 30%, effective date November 2014. However, the payment that is scheduled to be processed does not reflect the effective date. Could this be an initial payment, with lump sum amount to follow?

Yes. No. Maybe.
That's the best I can do because all of those responses are true. When we first hear of an award or decision from BVA we want to immediately know all the details and that's fine, you've waited a long while so this is exciting news.
However, notice of a BVA award is just the start of a process of verification, quality review, the finance people will have their turn and so on. There are any number of reviews that will occur and each step may or may not be appropriately updated to eBenefits.
The fact is you'll have to be patient for all the different steps in processing your final award to take place. With luck you're looking at a few days to weeks and you'll have the answers you need.
