Question:
I am a Vietnam era veteran. Can I wear a Vietnam veteran hat and not be ashamed of wearing it?
Jim's Reply:
I don't know if you can or not? Isn't that up to you, that seems a personal decision?
I can tell you that I'm a Vietnam era veteran and I didn't serve in Vietnam so my hats say something along the lines of 'US Army Veteran' or I sometimes wear hats given to me by others in honor of their military service or ship.
I choose not to wear a "Vietnam Veteran" hat because I'm not a Vietnam veteran. That has nothing to do with being ashamed of anything, I'm very proud of my military service. But I didn't do my service there in Vietnam so why would I pretend to have done so?
