Question:
Am 100% IU . i am turning 65 in January 8. I needed to know what supplement with the Medicare would work better for me. I am totally lost at the moment. The VA benefit counselor told me I don't need a,b,c or d. What would you suggest?
Jim's Reply:
How to use your SSA and VA benefits together is a very personal situation that you have to decide for yourself. If you're close to a VA hospital and you're happy with the care you get there, take Part A and you're done. If you may want to use civilian docs, take Part B for sure...it pays a lot of the routine doc visits with low copays. You don't need drug coverage Part D since that is a pretty good VA program. So far as supplements go, I don't bother because they're so expensive. I try to save that money instead and apply it towards any copays I may have...so far I'm ahead of the game. Continue to study your options and do what seems best for your situation.
