My sons father committed suicide 3.3.19 and he was living with girlfriend. Not married in North Carolina. Girlfriend got lawyer and does not want to release his personal belongings. He served 11 yrs in Army. My sons do have part of his belongings given to them by her. Home is in her name but he lived with her approx 5 yrs. All my sons want is his garage mancave and his hunting n vehicle he was still paying.
Jim's Reply:
I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your sons father. However, that he was a veteran won't have any bearing on a civilian dispute about his belongings. You'll need to find legal aid or retain an attorney locally to help you.
