Question:
I was awarded a 90% rating in the first week of January 2019. In February 2019 the VA sent me a letter stating that I had been awarded IU. What does this mean for me?
Jim's Reply:
It means you're rated 100% TDIU...unemployability. If the rating is permanent (no future exams scheduled) your dependents will be eligible to apply for Chapter 35 education benefits as well as CHAMPVA health insurance. If the rating is temporary (a future exam is scheduled), you'll be paid at the 100% rate but you won't have the dependents benefits.
