Question:
Hello, Jim I’ve become a follower of your effort because I live in an region where being Male and having issues pertaining to MST are considered a reasons to be treated by your regional office. Currently, I have an appeal PTSD/ MST for denial of rights under the ( Ruth Moore Act). I’m service connected 100% Depression/MST currently, however, I’m fighting for this issue because it’s a matter of equality. Nevertheless, I opt-in into RAMP, but it seems WLA has black balled my claim. They never did the review as required by the act, they are violating my “ due process" I know it will be handled wrong in WLA, Why can't a different region whom is a RAMP team handle my claim appeal as required? DAV is my representative, but is there someone you can recommend this is a matter of respect and equality, therefore, if I have to do some time because Jim Crow objects that’s ok.
Jim's Reply:
Being the male victim of military sexual trauma carries its own particular stigma. However, it's not an infrequent occurrence in the military and most advocates recognize and understand that trauma. Get in touch with my friends at this office near you. Tell them I asked you to call.
- PS from StatesideLegal: An increasing number of legal aid and law school clinics are providing free help to victims of military sexual trauma. Use the "Find Legal Help" directory to look for resources in your State.
