My current home owners insurance is dropping me with a claim still open. Leaving me unable to open a new policy with a new insurance company. Is this legal?

Is that legal? I don't know. You'd have to have all the documents reviewed by an attorney familiar with the rules and regs in your region. You could try to get answers from your state insurance commissioner but if you're being left without insurance on your home, I think you need a lawyer PDQ,
