Increased benefits with prosthetic device/cochlear implant?

Question:

I just had a Right ear Cochlear implant that the VA recommend and the VA recently performed the surgery in Charleston, SC. Since this is considered a prosthetic device I’m I eligible for additional compensation or a higher rating. I was at 30% for my hearing lost and have it’s service related of coarse. I’m at 60% with a leg injury I received and was discharged with that 30%.

Jim's Reply:

You may or may not be eligible for increased benefits. There are a lot of variables that will go into making such a decision, such as the degree of hearing loss in the other ear and so on. The only way to know for sure is to apply.
