husband has PTSD and major problems

Question:

My husband has PTSD and is a vet. Right now he is in jail for assault on a family member. Before he went to jail he redirected all his direct deposits to somewhere else. He is involved in a scam romance scam. And then sending them 2500 amor the least amount it is like seven hundred a month. We lived off of his money's that was put in the bank. He will not tell me where the money is so I can make house payment car payment and things like that. I'm disable to I only make $400 a month. My husband has got us into financial trouble. And I have people calling everyday wanting to know where their payment is. What can I do about this?

Jim's Reply:

You need to speak with a divorce lawyer or a local legal aid organization. If you don't get legal help, I can't think of much of anything else you can do. If your veteran is incarcerated and he's already routed his direct deposit elsewhere, I can't see how anything can be done to make him change any of that. If you think there's something illegal going on, call local law enforcement and let them know...often enough they can help.

  • PS from StatesideLegal: You can also use the "Find Legal Help" directory to contact your local LSC provider and ask if they can help you. If not, ask them for other suggestions for legal help in your area.
