Question:
Hello Jim, thanks for all you do helping veterans. I was 70 years old in June 2018, and as a rule I fill out Form 21-4140 in November every year. I heard that when you turn 70, you no longer had to fill out this form,is this true.I have not worked in 22 years. Thank you for any information
Jim's Reply:
That's correct...after we turn 70 we no longer have to complete the annual VA Form 21-4140 to prove that we haven't had gainful employment in the preceding year. We hear that VA is in the process of eliminating the form altogether this year and beginning to cross check our employment status with the IRS. That's much more efficient for everyone.
