Question:
I guess I just became the stereotype that everyone hears about with wrongful termination and defamation of character due to an employer believing a civilian over a disabled veteran and law enforcement officer. What can I do about this, and what can I charge them with? I am lost with this whole thing being a disabled veteran and being treated the way I was where my ex-employer tried to also coerce a lie out of me offering a lesser punishment than being terminated because I was a disabled post-combat, U.S. Army Infantry Veteran and the civilian could not be lying. Even though she is well known for lying in the town. Does it seem like the employer was just looking for a reason to fire me or?....
Jim's Reply:
It sounds as if you have an employee/employer dispute. "What can I do about this" If you wish to take action other than to vent your frustrations here, you have to contact and retain an attorney who will help you. Unless and until you have a well qualified lawyer who agrees to take your case, there isn't much to do.
- PS from StatesideLegal: Using the "Find Legal Help" directory, look for your local LRS provider and then request a low-cost consultation with an attorney who specializes in employment disputes to get advice on how to proceed.
