Disability Income, Debt, and Child Support

Jim,

WHEN A VETERAN APPLY FOR ANY DISABILITY AND IS GRANTED, ONLY THAT VETERAN IS ENTITLE FOR THAT MONTHLY COMPENSATION WHICH IS PROTECTED FROM DEBPT COLLECTORS. WHY IN CASE OF A DIVORCE THAT COMPENSATION IS NOT PROTECTED, WHEN ONLY THE VETERAN IS THE ONE THAT SUFFER FOR "X" DISABILITY?

I'll assume you're referring to the "5301 Myth". Veterans who are involved in often bitter divorce and child custody issues often get advice that their disability income can't be made part of a court ordered settlement of alimony or child support. That's wrong for a number of reasons. Please read up at my web site at http:www.vawatchdogtoday.org and clicking on the Alimony and Child Support link.
