Question:
I'm trying to get into the teaching profession in the state of Connecticut, and believe through a reputable source, that the reason I was denied as a substitute teacher by the Board of Education in Waterbury, CT, is because I had a D.U.I. in 2000. Is it a fact that having a D.U.I. is disqualifying for that position?
Jim's Reply:
That's a good question. To get a proper and accurate answer you will need to contact a local attorney who practices DUI law. You can Google search and talk with the attorneys near you who will be able to help.
- PS from StatesideLegal: Using the "Find Legal Help" feature with your zip code, look for the closest LRS provider in CT and then ask them for contact information for an attorney who handles employment law -- that experience may also be helpful in understanding your options.
