Army family worried about credit score

Question:

Hello, i had a question about a mortgage we use to have. When we joined the army we had a mortgage. unfortunately we defaulted. But due to the law they didn't foreclose and the house remains vacant. So now we are trying to repair our credit and bring it up.. so I pulled our report. Which I found that mortgage had been removed or wasn't showing on our credit since it has been some time since we defaulted. So my question is we would like to call them back and allow them to sell off the house so it's not just sitting there.. but my concern is that calling them, they will report jt and put it back on our credit and that will then effect us from being able to purchase a home again once we get out of the Army.. would they do that put it back on our credit? Thank you.

I'm happy to hear that you're repairing your credit...that's a very good move to make. But I can't answer your questions because there are just too many variables and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction. It would be a smart investment for you to speak with a lawyer who is well experienced in real estate. Spending a few dollars getting some expert advice now could save you a lot in the future.
